Some of the children are currently in foster or other out-of-home placements. Work with PALS team to design and deliver programming for high-risk children in school, after-school and summer settings, including:

  • academic assistance
  • recreation and field trips
  • life skills education
  • culture & arts (e.g., music, drama, writing, etc.)
  • other tasks & projects as assigned, to promote the mission of PALS

During the school year, the day is divided between supporting children in their school setting in the mornings and delivering after-school academic assistance and other programming. During the summer, a daycamp with a variety of activities and outings is provided.

  • Ability to multi-task and handle stresses associated with needs and trauma of high-risk children
  • Spanish language skills ,and/or experience living in a Latino setting in the U.S. or abroad, a plus

This is an active and at times intense work environment. Due to the challenges PALS children face, there is a high staff to child ratio and an emphasis on teamwork. Many of the children come from local or immigrant Latino families, so cross-cultural understanding is key.
