There are several potential options available to a Health Associate in and around Alamosa, including hospital, public health, and clinic-based opportunities. These are designed year-by-year depending on changing needs of local healthcare organizations and the interests and training held by the volunteer. While some opportunities may require specific nursing, medical assistant or emergency medical certifications, others may be suited for volunteers such as pre-med students who do not yet hold specific healthcare certifications or licenses.
Public Health: opportunities such as assisting with the San Luis Valley Regional Epidemiologist; school-based screening, referral and education (Coordinated Health Assessment and Management Program); periodic childhood medical specialty clinics; home health and personal care services; surveying and assessment of public health data, Quality Assurance, etc.
