FUNCTION: Under the supervision of the Volunteer Services Manager, this position is responsible for recruiting, orienting, training, and scheduling individual and group volunteers, and for establishing and maintaining good volunteer relations. This position through MVS will require someone passionate about serving diverse communities, and especially engaging diverse populations in service and volunteerism with the Community Food Bank. CFB has volunteers serving in every area of our organization, which has many different programs designed to create healthier, hunger-free communities in southern Arizona. Volunteers assist with everything from packing emergency food boxes, to distributing produce from small local farmers, to teaching families and children about nutrition and cooking, to more advocacy and community organizing. The MVS Volunteer will aid in placing many different kinds of volunteers in varying roles, all aimed at addressing many adverse affects of poverty and hunger. We are especially excited to have an MVS Volunteer assist with developing and deepening relationships in rural and marginalized communities, assisting with the training of staff and volunteers on database usage, growing our advocacy and awareness program volunteer base, and assisting in the daily communications and placement of community volunteers.
