Jackson, Mississippi

Food Ministries - Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry

Stewpot -- Jackson, Mississippi

10-month term
Ages 17–20
Service Adventure

This ministry provides food and meals to low income families, situationally homeless, and others in need. Weekly tasks in these programs may include taking in new food donations, stocking shelves, helping distribute food and encouraging healthy eating habits. While in the soup kitchen, participants will help set up tables, serve food, and help with clean up and break down. This placement enables participants to get to know the people they are serving (Jesus loves showing up when people eat in communion with each other). Participants may be asked to work in different aspects of Stewpot as well.

Stewpot is an Inter-Faith ministry providing for the basic needs of those who are homeless and/or impoverished. Read more about Stewpot and the opportunities for growth here: Stewpot
